MDR / Yellow Table Media - Past Forward - Tempolimit
Driving at 200 km/h or more on the autobahn - that's only possible in Germany. Yet a speed limit has been discussed for decades - to no avail. In the third episode of the young ARD history format "Past Forward," reporter Rike (Friederike Schicht) asks herself whether driving at 130 km/h really means a lasting restriction of personal freedoms - and what role the German auto industry plays in all this.
The "Past Forward" format explores the history of current social issues and establishes a link to the lives of young adults. The elements used are historical archive material with original sounds, interviews with experts and witnesses as well as reports from the reporter's experiences. As a subjective reportage format, it is based on the reporter's motivation and questions. Based on this, facts, backgrounds and contexts are conveyed transparently.
The entire episode (30 minutes) can be streamed at ARD media center.
